Modeling spatial-temporal variability of PM2.5 concentrations in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) region via functional adaptive density approach
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Oct 6. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-30048-z. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe rapid development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has led to severe air pollution dominated by PM2.5 concentrations which can cause a profound negative impact on human health and economic activity. This problem poses a critical environmental challenge to efficiently handling large-scale spatial-temporal PM2.5 data in this extended region. Functional data analysis (FDA) technique offers powerful tools that have the potential to enhance the analysis of spatial distributions and temporal dynamic changes in high-dim...

Understanding the phenomenon of saltwater intrusion sourced from desalination plants at coastal aquifers
The objective of this exercise was to understand the phenomenon of saltwater intrusion using an existing set of data analyzed with the convective-diffusion equation and the two-region mobile-immobile solution model. The objective was achieved by optimizing non-measurable solute transport parameters from an existing set of data generated from a series of logical miscible displacements of potassium bromide through sepiolite minerals and curve-fitting simulations. Assumptions included that solute displacements through sepiolite porous media and the related simulations represented the phenomenon of saltwater intrusion under no...

One-year real-world outcomes for patients undergoing transcatheter mitral valve repair: the Gulf MTEER registry (GULF Mitral Transcatheter Edge to Edge Repair)
Conclusions The Gulf MTEER registry is the first registry in the Gulf region defining the patient population receiving MTEER therapies and evaluating 1-year outcomes. This is a low risk cohort with a high rate of immediate procedural success and low rate of all-cause death and rehospitalisations at 1 year. The odds of an event was two times higher if the ERO ≥40 mm2 with only a signal to higher odds for low left ventricular ejection fraction and larger end systolic dimension. (Source: BMJ Open)

Assessing Adherence to Clinical Practice Guidelines Among Primary Care Physicians in Bahrain: A Cross-sectional Study
CONCLUSIONS: Most PCPs in Bahrain are adherent to CPGs in their daily practice and encounter minimal barriers. Identifying and resolving barriers can help develop unified and standardized guidelines that promote better consistency in patient management, minimize medical errors, and conserve resources.PMID:37720341 | PMC:PMC10500093 | DOI:10.5001/omj.2023.84 (Source: Oman Medical Journal)
