Compilation of irreversible competitive inhibitors?
The only irreversible competitive chemicals/drugs that comes to my mind are Aspirin, phenoxybenzamine, and (maybe CO toxin? or that one maybe just has a REALLY high affinity and may be CONSIDERED irreversible). Does anyone have a compilation of these irreversible competitive inhibitors? feel free to correct anything i stated. On line weaver burk plot qs, I'm not confident when it asks about competitive inhibitors because I always wonder: "Is THAT one irreversible?". I currently have the... MI management, basic question
Hey all, intern here trying to get all this jazz straight. I know there's a bazillion mnemonics out there, but I'm just trying to make sure my management of STEMI and NSTEMI is correct for what we do in the emergency department. In addition to oxygen, monitor, and IV access: STEMI --> Aspirin, clopidogrel, nitro (if no contraindications), heparin (ufh vs lmwh depending on institution, I guess), beta blocker (f no contraindications), PCI (and if going to PCI, give IIb/IIIa drug like... step 2CK: digoxin hyperkalemia
This is a question i found on MTB step 2 ck, it said: You have a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy secondary to MI in the past, that comes for routine evaluation, is asymptomatic, but with hyperkalemia. He is on lisinopril, furosemide, metoprolol, aspirin and digoxin. What is the best management? The answer was to change lisinopril (a IECA, so a possible cause of hyperKalemia) for hydralazine + nitroglycerin. This also lowers mortality, like IECAs, in CHF. My question is... Fake norco, anyone know how?
Just read this article on yahoo and a dozen people ingested fake norco. Anyone here know how to press the norco tablet or generic with the proper markings? I have made aspirin before but that did not have a good shape. This could be a good money maker to make some aspirin with the norco markings and do some street dealing. Pain will be covered for sure. Not sure about getting high though.... Fake norco, anyone know how? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why is CoPlavix not enteric coated?
Hi, I have a question. Co-Plavix is the brand name for the aspirin clopidogrel combination marketed by Sanofi. Now this product is only film coated and not enteric coated. My question is: Isn't it wrong to administer aspirin/clopidogrel as a formulation which is not enteric coated on accounts of the GI ulcers it can cause. Secondly, in Pakistan, there are other kinds of products for the same combination. Some of them are bilayered tablets. Some are pellet containing enteric coated tablets... A large cohort study suggests that aspirin prophylaxis only benefits people with a prior cardiovascular event
Conclusions In patients with stable coronary artery disease and hypertension, aspirin use was associated with reduced risk for adverse cardiovascular outcomes among those with prior ischemic events. Among patients with no prior ischemic events, aspirin use was not associated with a reduction in risk. COMMENT: The determining the risk/benefit ratio of prophylactic aspirin use for the prevention of cardiovascular events has become a complicated issue.  The current recommendations from the CDC http://www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/aspirin.htm recommend aspirin prophylaxis in those with prior cardiovascular events.  Th...
