Workup for Old People
Over a year out of residency, working a lot of evening/night shifts, still uncomfortable with old patients that come in at night... 2 scenarios: 1. 85 yo F with dementia, a million other medical problems, unwitnessed GLF fall at SNF, A&O x1 maybe x2 at baseline, doesn't remember what happened. Maybe feels a little weak recently. Probably on aspirin/plavix/Eliquis (Full Code) I usually scan their head/neck and film whatever hurts. Basic labs/trop/ekg/urine. If I don't find anything... Online OTC Supplement Product Packaging and Sales
I had a rotation in a non-sterile outpatient compound pharmacy, and though it dealt with prescription drugs, e.g. hormones, it also had OTC drugs compounded in different dosage forms, such as omeprazole and aspirin lozenges, solutions, etc. In my city there is a large natural herb community, and I was thinking of selling supplements online in different dosage forms, e.g capsules, lozenges, and suckers, etc. This is a new prospect for me, so if anyone can steer me in the right direction... Brain Injury Guidelines
I'm trying to gauge what other providers do with regards to patients with simple (<4 mm) EDH, SDH, tSAH, or ICH who are not intoxicated, have a GCS of 15, and who are not on an anticoagulant or antiplatelet agent (including aspirin). Does your ED follow Brain Injury Guidelines (Joseph, et al) for BIG 1 patients? If so, what do you do? Are patients staying in the ER and discharged with/without a repeat head CT, are they admitted or placed in observation status by ED providers or... Anyone seeing this trend in pain fellowships? Take Two Aspirin and Call Me by My Pronouns At ‘woke’ medical schools, curricula are increasingly focused on social justice rather than treating illness. RustedFox Rants: "BC Powder"
Okay, I can be completely wrong here - and maybe this is a regional thing... ... but what the hell is it that makes people think that they should take "BC Powder" for any ailment under the sun? Full disclosure: I had never heard of "BC Powder" before I moved down here to Florida. I actually had to look up what the hell it was (aspirin/caffeine). But the folks down here in the sunshine state act like its a panacea. Ailments that muggles regularly report using "BC Powder" for to me include...
