Question/Answer: What is a good Detox diet for an ectomorph body type?
‘Ashley’ asks a great question so I thought I’d post it here with an answer – enjoy: I am 20 years old and have been having digestion problems and a few health problem. Yes, I have seen a doctor about it and everything seems to have rational and easily fixed by medication. It was suggested to me that I do a detox diet just to try to clear out some of the bad stuff in my system. But its hard trying to find a diet I can actually do.I am about 5’1″ and 105lbs. I have a naturally high metabolism and physically need protein though out the day and sustenance or I become ill, light headed, naus...

Nalts Has Low T! Asks Internet for a Diagnosis Based on His Brain MRI Images. Isn't There an App for That?
Nalts (aka "ADHD Boy", aka Kevin Nalty, Marketing Strategist, former Merck/Janssen-Cilag employee) posted a new YouTube video of his brain -- which includes a series of MRI scans. It seems he has "Low T" (low testosterone) and his doctor recommended the scan to see if his Low T is caused by a "pituitary issue." I hope he is OK and just growing old like the rest of us. As Nalts himself admits, he has no privacy when it comes to his health issues. I've blogged about his ADHD years ago (see "ADHD Boy").His brain scan video is his latest revelation about his health-related problems. In the video Nalts asks for some "wisdo...

Dear Mom (writing about Mom) writing about Mom on the iPhone
These days I don't usually get too exercised about mom-on-mom atrocities. You know: the mommy wars. Momtroversy! Hand-to-hand mombat! ...OkayI'llstopnow. ... ... ...Momnia Brawlia in tres partes diviOKAY. It's not so much that I feel that hot-button topics don't apply to me, because Marissa Meyer and I have a lot in common and I plan to give her a call next time I feel like getting my peasant on, see if she wants to bump panniers or something. It's more, I think, that I feel comfortable. I don't have a lot to fight over, not a lot I'm ambivalent about. I don't feel the urge to argue about w...

Chemo again or just semantics?
I have been emailing back and forth with a friend with whom I had lost touch. His wife had died a few years ago of pancreatic cancer.  I told him that I had RA which is why I haven't been around as much recently. He replied that he has a friend who is on methotrexate - which is a form of chemo  for their RA.Eeek! I had not considered that Methotrexate was a form of chemo. I take it in pill form weekly so its not like I go for an infusion or anything. I looked it up on Scott Hamilton's Chemocare.com and found out its true. The thought of being on chemo again had always freaked me out. I mean who wants a port, bald...

Does being an extreme metal vocalist cause wrinkles?
Kannibalkorpse asks….I READ ON HERE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS CAUSE WRINKLES AND SINCE I ENJOY SINGING EXTREME METAL, I WONDER IF IT WILL CAUSE WRINKLES, SINCE PART OF THE ART IS MAKING MANY CONTORTIONS OF AGONY. NOT THAT I CARE ABOUT WRINKLES JUST WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY, AND IT COMPARED TO OTHER SINGING LIKE SAY OPERA. The Beauty Brains respond: KK was nice enough to include the following video link: While I can’t say I’m a fan of Extreme Metal I did find this question to be very interesting. Unfortunately, I’ve never seen any data suggesting that singing one type of music (Metal versus Opera)...

My Answer To The Question – Why do people get so concerned when dieting is involved?
Many of you like the questions and answers on this blog. I just found another one from ‘A.O’ who asks I am a healthy male in my mid 20′s and I find it extremely depressing how people react when I talk about dieting. For example, this week I am doing a 2 day liquid diet for cleansing purposes. And once people found out about this my office it soon became a circle of concerned citizens, all focused on my health. As if I could just die by doing this…Why are people so deathly afraid of dieting or changes to ones diet? Answer: This isn’t really a diet issue. It’s a psychological question ab...

Natural Death: We Should be Worried About It
Edge magazine recently ran their yearly question, which this year is "what should we be worried about?" There are more than a hundred and fifty responses from various authors and folk in the public eye, and I'll confess to not having read more than a handful - time is ever fleeting, and none of us have enough of it between dawn and dusk. Thus while I noticed Aubrey de Grey's response, I missed seeing this rather better one. You should definitely read the whole thing, not just the concluding except below: What Should We Be Worried About: Natural Death Even if the probability of quickly finding a technological method to de...
