Influence of ω3 fatty acids on maternal behavior and brain oxytocin in the murine perinatal period
In mammals, there is a neural network in the brain that controls parental behavior as an innate behavior for maintaining individuals and species [1]. However, perinatal women are prone to psychosomatic imbalance and may experience mood disorders, emotional anxiety, and postpartum depression due to anxiety about major life events occurring within a short period of time (e.g. pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing) as well as associated lifestyle changes, physical load, and altered hormone secretion [2 –5].
