Analysis of running gait kinematics using an OptoGait at varying degrees of loading on a lower body positive pressure treadmill

Purpose: The use of lower body positive pressure (LBPP) treadmills is becoming more apparent in both rehabilitation and as a supplementary training tool. LBPP treadmills have been shown to reduce ground reaction forces associated with running, whilst maintaining a cardiovascular training stimulus. Additionally, LBPP treadmills are being utilised in orthopaedic, elderly and neurological rehabilitation protocols, due to the ability to offload the forces experienced by lower limbs. The current study aims to investigate the spatiotemporal parameters of the gait cycle at various degrees of body weight support.
