Heart failure secondary to myocarditis after SARS-CoV-2 reinfection: a case report

Cardiac involvement in COVID-19 can range from mild damage to severe myocarditis. SARS-CoV-2 binds with high affinity to the human angiotensin-converting enzyme receptor 2 (ACE 2), which is expressed in the entire body, including the heart. Severe systemic manifestations, such as myocarditis, have been reported in association with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) (Kerneis et al., 2020; Hamming et al., 2004). Some COVID-19 patients have persistent tachycardia, sustained asymptomatic hypotension, and bradycardia (Huang et al., 2020).
