Ovarian tissue oocytes in vitro maturation as a method of fertility preservation in patients with gynecological cancer: a pilot study

Almost 100,000 new cases of gynecological cancers are diagnosed annually, and 15 –20% of these cases occur in women under the age of 40 [1]. For instance, 8% of endometrial cancer, 12% of ovarian cancer, and 40% of cervical cancer occur in women of reproductive age [2]. Often these patients have to go through radical ovariectomies. The standard methods of fertility preservatio n (FP) such as controlled ovarian stimulation or ovarian tissue cryopreservation might not be suitable for patients with gynecological cancer (GC).
