Youth self-harm and suicide: causes and prediction

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for adolescents, with an increasing prevalence. Knowing which at-risk youth will go on to a suicide attempt and how this process occurs is critical for directing and developing treatment. To that end, we present an update from cutting-edge predictive and mechanistic research on youth self-injury and suicide. This Symposium will present emerging, unpublished findings using computation models and cognitive neuroscience methods to advance our understanding of risk and mechanisms.
