Chronic osteomyelitis post extraction in jaw: a case report
This study reports a case of osteomyelitis of jaws in a 44-year-old male patient who had his 36 and 38 teeth extracted, and a fragment of distal root was left in the alveolus of 36. Almost 2 months after extraction this patient returned to the clinic with an extraoral abscess with 2 weeks of evolution. An increase in left side volume was observed in the mandibular region, which showed no pain symptoms but was palpable and contained secretion. On intraoral examination, he had a fistula. Thus, penicillin was prescribed to combat infection, and after 1 week reopening, curettage, and region drainage were performed.
