Troponin T elevation is associated with a poor outcome in infective endocarditis

Thank you for your interest. Due to the retrospective design of our study, troponin (Tn) levels during infective endocarditis hospitalization were not available for all patients as pointed out in Limitations. Table 1 of our manuscript [1] depicts how this problem is common in previous studies and is related to the fact that Tn determination is not supported by current clinical guidelines [2]. Even the moment when Tn levels should be determined is not clear [3]. Since Tn is as a marker of myocardial damage, we recorded the highest level presented by each patient during hospitalization.
