Pharmacological, physiological, and familial factors in propranolol-induced visions

Beta-blockers should be considered as a source of psychotic symptoms in patients taking potentially psychotropic medications (i.e., monoamine oxidase inhibitors) or with physiologic or genetic risk factors for psychotic disease. When beta-blockade is medically indicated, less lipophilic agents should be used.
