Request for Applications to Investigate the Clinical Effectiveness of Ultrasound Versus Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Joints or Soft Tissue Pathology The Endowment for Education and Research (EER) of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) has issued a request for applications (RFA) to investigate the clinical effectiveness of ultrasound versus magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for joints or soft tissue pathology using an independent gold standard, either clinical or surgical. Preference will be given to studies other than those addressing rotator cuff tears because there is already ample literature on this topic. Projects are expected to be completed within a 2-year time frame. Supported by an educational grant from Philips Healthcare, $50,000 has been allocated for one or more grants in this area.  Deadline for submission is April 30, 2014, 11:59 PM, Eastern Time. • Applicants o Applicants from outside the United States may apply. o Applicants need not be members of the AIUM. o Members of the AIUM Board of Governors or Executive Committee may not apply or be included in any capacity within the proposal. o Members of the granting committee may apply but will then not be allowed to be involved in the reviewing of any submissions. o An individual may be the principal investigator on only 1 proposal, but may serve in another capacity on another proposal. o Proposals would preferably include evidence of prior experien...
