2014 Claire M. Fagin Fellow Award Program The Claire M. Fagin Fellow Award Program focuses on building academic gerontological nursing capacity through the development of leaders in gerontological nursing. The program provides for a 2-year fellowship for advanced research training and mentorship designed to assist doctorally prepared nurses committed to academic careers in gerontological nursing. To facilitate this effort, the program provides focused study and substantial networking opportunities among National Hartford Centers of Gerontological Nursing Excellence Patricia G. Archbold Scholars, Claire M. Fagin Fellows and mentors as well as colleagues in other fields. Claire M. Fagin Fellows, in collaboration with their mentors, will design and implement individual professional development plans that will support them in developing new competencies and enhanced effectiveness as an academic leader and researcher. Awards will total $120,000 ($60,000 per annum) to each selected Fagin Fellow candidate with the requirement that 10% of that amount be contributed by the institution where the fellow is located. The institution’s contribution may be in the form of tuition waivers, research assistantships, teaching assistantships, grants-in-aid or scholarships. Neither in-kind support nor student loans are acceptable as matching funds. No indirect costs are allowed to the school and waivers of these indirect costs cannot be considered matching funds.
