Accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound-guided biopsy of focal liver lesions.

CONCLUSIONS: EUS guided fine needle aspiration/biopsy of focal liver lesions is safe, provides a very high diagnostic accuracy and should not be considered only as a rescue method after failure of percutaneous guided biopsies. PMID: 32096783 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

This study identified diagnostic plasma proteins based on proteomics of tumor secretome. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Secretome of tumor and normal tissue was collected after resection of PDAC and dCCA. Differentially expressed proteins were measured by mass spectrometry. Selected candidate biomarkers and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) were validated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in plasma from patients with PDAC (n = 82), dCCA (n = 29), benign disease (BD; n = 30), and healthy donors (HDs; n = 50). Areas under the curve (AUCs) of receiver operator characteristic curves were calculated...

ConclusionsUnlike other chronic liver diseases, carrying two MBOAT7 variant alleles does not seem to affect PSC patients negatively, but seems to have a positive effect on transplant-free survival. This study could help improve individual prognosis in PSC patients and give some new perspective on the involvement of the immune system in PSC.

Abstract CD28H and B7-H5 have been identified as receptor-ligand pairs in B7/CD28 family, and have costimulatory activity in immune cells. Here, we have systematically reviewed the research reports on the CD28H/B7-H5 pathway. It was found that CD28H is mainly expressed in T cells and natural killer (NK) cells with naive and poorly differentiated properties, and repeated antigen stimulation leads to permanent loss of CD28H. In tumors, CD28H is mainly expressed in tissue-resident memory (TRM ) lymphocyte T cells, which is associated with improved tumor prognosis. B7-H5 is a ligand for CD28H and is widely expressed i...

The SOX2OT gene is comprised of 10 exons and more than two transcription start sites. Dysregulation of SOX2OT is observed in various tumors, including lung cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, breast cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, ovarian cancer, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, osteosarcoma, nasopharyngeal carc...

We describe the rare case of a 61-year-old female with right ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction caused by metastatic cholangiocarcinoma. Her past medical history was notable for cholangiocarcinoma treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiation and two orthotopic liver transplants six years earlier. Urology was consulted when she presented with flank pain and urinary tract infection. Diagnostic workup demonstrated right UPJ obstruction. She was managed acutely with percutaneous nephrostomy. She subsequently underwent robotic pyeloplasty and intrinsic obstruction of the UPJ was discovered. Histological examination revealed ad...

Conclusion: Some cases of ICC may be responsive to the antiangiogenic drug, anlotinib, when combined with microwave ablation. Randomized clinical studies are required to further confirm the efficacy and safety of anlotinib in the clinical treatment of ICC.

Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of the dysbiosis of bile flora in patients with dCCA. This micro-ecological disorder may be a decisive factor in the formation of dCCA. At the same time, for the first time, this study provides a test chart of biliary microbial populations that may be associated with recurrent choledocholithiasis. The compositional changes of the core microbial group of the biliary tract have potentially important biological and medical significance for the microbiological biliary disorders of dCCA.
