Impact of time to second transurethral resection on oncological outcomes of patients with high-grade T1 bladder cancer treated with intravesical Bacillus Calmette –Guerin

ConclusionsThis is the first study testing the role of time to Re-TUR in a homogeneous population of patients with high-grade T1 BC who received complete BCG treatment. The study challenged the concept the sooner the Re-TUR the better, since time to Re-TUR did not significantly affect oncological outcomes.

Purpose: Synchronous chemotherapy with mitomycin C and 5-FU with radiotherapy may have an additional benefit over radiotherapy alone [1]. We looked into the rate of recurrence and median overall survival between these two groups of patients.

The Florida Legislature has passed a bill designed to better protect its firefighters from cancer-causing contaminants, including toxic asbestos. By approving the legislation, Florida joined a growing number of states that have passed laws in recent years to help firefighters combat occupational hazards they face every day. The Firefighter Cancer Decontamination Equipment Grant Program in Florida will provide funding for departments to procure supplies, equipment and add additional training that should reduce exposure to hazardous pollutants. It includes all fire departments across the state, from large municipal entities...

In conclusion, YBC had distinct driver genetic alterations such as HRAS mutation and FGFR3 gene fusion and showed good prognosis. YBCs and ABCs with YBC-like mutations may be managed with less aggressive surveillance.

ConclusionsWe propose a novel risk stratification model that predicts outcomes of treated NMIBC and may overcome the shortcomings of existing risk models. Further external validation is required to strengthen its clinical impact.

In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that circRNAs were dysregulated in bladder cancer tissues compared with matched normal samples. Pathway analysis was also performed to predict the binding of miRNAs to the dysregulated circRNAs. The results revealed that hsa_circ_100242 may be involved in bladder cancer initiation and progression by sponging miR-145. These findings may provide further insights into the functional and therapeutic roles of circRNAs in bladder cancer. PMID: 32218853 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In this study, the CIBERSORT algorithm was used to identify the immune cell infiltration signatures. The gene expression profiles, mutation data, and clinical data were collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Unsupervised consensus clustering was used to acquire the immune cell infiltration subtypes of bladder cancer based on the fractions of 22 immune cell types. Four immune cell clusters with different immune infiltrate and mutation characteristics were identified. In addition, this stratification has a prognostic relevance, with cluster 2 having the best outcome, cluster 1 the worst. These clusters showe...

In conclusion, our study indicated that CRYAB, CGNL1, ECM1, and GPX3 are potential urine biomarkers of HGBC. These four novel urine biomarkers will have attractive applications to provide new diagnostic methods, prognostic predictors and treatment targets for HGBC, which could improve the prognosis of HGBC patients, if validated by further experiments and larger prospective clinical trials.

For mixed population of patients with non –muscle‐invasive bladder who were treated with and without Bacillus Calmette‐Guerin and without any immediate postoperative chemotherapy, we show that European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer scale provides the best recurrence and progression prediction in comparison with Eur opean Association of Urology and Club Urologico Espanol de Tratamiento Oncologico risk scores. We highlight the role of diameter and tumor extent in transition prediction. AbstractBrief Description: The results demonstrate that the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of...
