The Diagnostic Accuracy of PET(CT) in Patients With Neuroblastoma: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review

Conclusions This study provides a systematic review and meta-analysis of diagnostic accuracy studies of PET(CT) for NB. The results indicated that PET(CT) is a highly accurate diagnostic tool for NB.

Pheochromocytoma (PCC) and paraganglioma (PGL) are rare neuroendocrine tumors associated with high cardiovascular morbidity and variable risk of malignancy. The current therapy of choice is surgical resection. Nevertheless, PCCs/PGLs are associated with a lifelong risk of tumor persistence or recurrence. A high rate of germline or somatic mutations in numerous genes has been found in these tumors. For some, the tumorigenic processes are initiated during embryogenesis. Such tumors carry gene mutations leading to pseudohypoxic phenotypes and show more immature characteristics than other chromaffin cell tumors; they are also ...

Conclusion: We provide important insight into miR-429 as a tumor suppressor through interaction with IKKβ, which is a catalytic subunit of the IKK complex that activates NF-κB nuclear transport. Our results demonstrate that miR-429 may be a new target for the treatment of neuroblastoma. PMID: 32082390 [PubMed - in process]

ierkens Neuroblastoma (NBL) is the most common extracranial solid tumor in childhood. Despite intense treatment, children with this high-risk disease have a poor prognosis. Immunotherapy showed a significant improvement in event-free survival in high-risk NBL patients receiving chimeric anti-GD2 in combination with cytokines and isotretinoin after myeloablative consolidation therapy. However, response to immunotherapy varies widely, and often therapy is stopped due to severe toxicities. Objective markers that help to predict which patients will respond or develop toxicity to a certain treatment are lacking. Immunothera...

In this study we tried to explore Diazepam as a repurposed drug and tested it in Neuroblastoma (Neuro 2a) cells. Diazepam loaded Poly Lactic Acid Nanoparticles were developed (D-PLA-NPs) using nanoprecipitation method. Entrapment efficiency was found to be ± 99.7% and drug loading was ± 12.88%. The particle size developed was 188.8 nm and zeta potential was −25.6 millivolt. Dissolution profiles were studied in PBS (pH 7.4) or simulated media, almost 50% release was observed within 6 h. In vitro, cytotoxicity was analyzed using MTT assay where dose-dependent cytotoxicity was observed for developed D-PLA-NPs.

The oncogene MYCN is critical for tumorigenesis of several types of cancers including neuroblastoma. We previously reported that miR-506-3p repressed MYCN expression in neuroblastoma cells. However, the mechan...

Anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDA) encephalitis is characterized by a wide spectrum of neuropsychiatric symptoms. Approximately one quarter of the patients with anti-NMDA encephalitis have been reported to have an underlying neoplasm, such as ovarian teratomas, small cell lung carcinoma, uterine adenocarcinoma, prostate adenocarcinoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, neuroblastoma, and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor [1]. To our knowledge, however, NMDA encephalitis associated with pheochromocytoma has never been reported.

In this study, we established anin vivo middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) model in mice. The expression level of miR-532-5p, neurological score, infarct area, neuronal apoptosis, and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathway-related molecules were examined. Low miR-532-5p levels and high phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) levels were detected in the mouse MCAO model. MiR-532-5p overexpression improved neurological dysfunction, reduced the infarct area, attenuated neuronal injury and apoptosis, and promoted the activation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in MCAO mice. In vitro...
