68Ga–Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen-11 PET/CT: A New Imaging Option for Recurrent Glioblastoma Multiforme?
Conclusions The extremely low background uptake in normal brain tissue and consequently high tumor-to-brain ratio make 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT highly promising for diagnosis of recurrent disease in GBM patients. Although PSMA expression in recurrent GBM also opens a potential way for targeted peptide therapy with α/β-emitters as well as for prediction of treatment with antiangiogenic agents, the low tumor-to-liver ratio observed in the majority of patients in this study suggests a limited role of radiolabeled PSMA ligands for targeted radionuclide therapy of recurrent GBM.
thier Caterina Merla Mariateresa Mancuso Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor. Despite the progress of new treatments, the risk of recurrence, morbidity, and death remains significant and the long-term adverse effects in survivors are substantial. The fraction of cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) because of their self-renewal ability and multi-lineage differentiation potential is critical for tumor initiation, growth, and resistance to therapies. For the development of new CSC-targeted therapies, further in-depth studies are needed using enriched and stable MB-CSCs populations. This w...
CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that donepezil may reverse obesity-related central inflammation and oxidative damage and improve memory deficit in HFD-fed mice. PMID: 31940604 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

PramodAbstractCarbon-based nanomaterials have established a prime position as drug delivery carriers. It is very interesting to see that a carbon nanostructure could be used as a drug too, instead of its regular application as a drug delivery carrier. In this aspect, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are now in the spotlight. GQDs are one of the recent entrants to the list of carbon-based nanomaterials. They are now reported useful in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases. Furthermore, antibacterial and anti-diabetic poten...
Authors: Geng F, Lu GF, Ji MH, Kong DY, Wang SY, Tian H, Xie ZM, Pan M, Gong NL Abstract Glioma is a common malignant human brain tumor. The progression of glioma is associated with dysregulation of various microRNAs. Previous studies have demonstrated that microRNA-26b-3p (miR-26b-3p) is correlated with the pathogenesis of various tumors, but the functional role of miR-26b-3p and its underlying mechanisms in glioma are not clear. Here, we found that overexpression of miR-26b-3p repressed cell migration and proliferation and promoted apoptosis. In contrast, the opposite effects were observed when miR-26b-3p was inh...

Conclusions: Complications of otitis media and sinusitis caused by SAG are associated with substantial morbidity. These infections are becoming increasingly common at our center although the precise reason for this temporal trend is unclear.
(University of Houston) The Akay Lab biomedical research team at the University of Houston is reporting an improvement on a microfluidic brain cancer chip previously developed in their lab. The new chip allows quick assessment of the effectiveness of cancer drugs on brain tumors.
(University of California - San Diego) Two different UC San Diego research teams identified the same molecule --αvβ5 integrin -- as Zika virus' key to brain cell entry. They found ways to take advantage of the integrin to both block Zika virus from infecting cells and turn it into something good: a way to shrink brain cancer stem cells.
