18 F-PSMA-1007 multiparametric, dynamic PET/CT in biochemical relapse and progression of prostate cancer

Conclusions18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT could detect PC lesions in 60% of the patients of a mixed population, including also patients with very low PSA values. Higher PSA values were associated with a higher detection rate. Dynamic PET analysis revealed an increasing tracer uptake during the dynamic PET acquisition as well as high binding and internalization of the radiofluorinated PSMA ligand in the PC lesions.

18F-fluorocholine (18F-FCH) PET/CT is widely used to study patients affected by prostate cancer. Despite its specificity, however, 18F-FCH may be taken up by other neoplasms such as multiple myeloma, lymphomas, lung, bladder, and colon cancer; brain tumors; and renal and hepatocellular carcinoma. This is due to its ability to evaluate the cell proliferation, which is typical of neoplastic cells. While this behavior may be an opportunity to image more neoplasms, on the other hand it could represent a source of error in the evaluation of the images. Here we present the case of a laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma detected by 18F-FCH.

Conclusions Levels of physical activity recommended in the 2018 Guidelines are associated with reduced risk and improved survival for several cancers. More research is needed to determine the associations between physical activity and incidence for less common cancers and associations with survival for other cancers. Future studies of cancer incidence and mortality should consider these associations for population subgroups, to determine dose–response relationships between physical activity and cancer risk and prognosis, and to establish mechanisms to explain these associations.

In this study, we reviewed major human studies on the health risks of radiation exposure and showed that sex-related factors may potentially influence the long-term response to radiation exposure.
