Fuel Up Breakfast Grant  Application Deadline: July 26, 2013 Are you looking for funds to improve or expand your school’s breakfast program? Is your school enrolled in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program? You have the opportunity to win up to $2000 for your school if you apply before July 26, 2013. For the fifth year in a row, National Dairy Council is partnering with General Mills Foodservice to award $50,000—that’s right, fifty thousand dollars!—in grants to help K-12 schools expand their breakfast programs and increase participation. About the Grant Grants are open to schools within the United States who participate in the National School Breakfast Program and are enrolled in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Schools who apply can receive up to $2000 in funding through the Fuel Up Breakfast Program, which has awarded $325,000 to more than 100 schools nationwide since 2009, and has greatly improved student access to nutritious foods such as low-fat and fat-free dairy products, whole grain cereals, and fruit. Schools applying for a Fuel Up grant must have support of their school principal, district school nutrition director and school nutrition manager; school enrollment must be at least 500, with a breakfast participation level of less than 40 percent, and applicants must demonstrate an opportunity to raise breakfast participation.
