New Summit Speakers: Barbara Arrowsmith Young, Alvaro Pascual-Leone

We’re glad to announce two more excellent speakers at the 2013 SharpBrains Virtual Summit, September 19-20th. Bar­bara Arrow­smith Young is the Direc­tor of Arrow­smith School and Arrow­smith Pro­gram. She wrote The Woman Who Changed Her Brain: And Other Inspir­ing Sto­ries of Pio­neer­ing Brain Trans­for­ma­tion (Free Press; May 2012) to share her own story over­com­ing a severe learn­ing dis­abil­ity and then pio­neer­ing efforts to trans­form spe­cial edu­ca­tion via the appli­ca­tion of neu­ro­plas­tic­ity prin­ci­ples. She holds both a B.A.Sc. in Child Stud­ies from the Uni­ver­sity of Guelph, and a Master’s degree in School Psy­chol­ogy from the Uni­ver­sity of Toronto (Ontario Insti­tute for Stud­ies in Education). Dr. Alvaro Pascual-Leone is a Pro­fes­sor in Neu­rol­ogy and Asso­ciate Dean for Clin­i­cal and Trans­la­tional Research at Har­vard Med­ical School, and Direc­tor of the Berenson-Allen Cen­ter for Non­in­va­sive Brain Stim­u­la­tion at Beth Israel Dea­coness Med­ical Cen­ter. He researches the phys­i­ol­ogy of higher cog­ni­tive func­tions and the study of brain plas­tic­ity in skill acqui­si­tion and recov­ery from injury. He is also the Pro­gram Direc­tor of the Harvard-Thorndike Clin­i­cal Research Cen­ter of the Beth Israel Dea­coness Med­ical Cen­ter.
