Prognostic value of hemodynamics and comorbidities in pulmonary hypertension due to advanced heart failure

Pulmonary hypertension due to left heart disease (PH-LHD), also classified as group 2 pulmonary hypertension (PH),1 is the most common form of PH, accounting for 65 –80% of PH cases.2,3 Left ventricular systolic dysfunction is a leading cause of PH-LHD, and it is estimated that PH occurs in more than 60% of those patients.1,4 Pulmonary hypertension is associated with increased hospitalization and mortality, independent of the left ventricular ejection fractio n (LVEF) and stage of heart failure (HF).
