30.2 review of pharmacological treatments for psychiatric symptoms in children with neurobehavioral disorder associated with prenatal alcohol exposure (nd-pae) and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (fasd)

Mental health symptoms in children with neurobehavioral disorder associated with prenatal alcohol exposure (ND-PAE) and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) present with high prevalence and morbidity, often across symptom domains (eg, ADHD-like symptoms and sleep problems). Polypharmacy is often used, but no guidelines exist regarding optimal treatment for these children. Moreover, stimulant use in these children is controversial, because their responsiveness may be different because of altered neural circuitry by prenatal alcohol exposure.
