Synthetic marijuana use has been reported in the last years as a possible causative factor of different cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, intracranial bleeding, and cerebral vasospasm. One case of aortic thrombosis was also reported, but that was in a patient using cocaine and synthetic marijuana together. A case of lower limb thromboembolism and synthetic marijuana use has not been reported to date. Intoxication, material impurity, blood vessel reactivity, and chemical interaction with other drugs have been proposed as possible mechanisms of these events.

In this study, AT1-AAs were detected in the sera of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and the positive rate was 44.44% vs. 17.46% in non-PAD volunteers. In addition, analysis showed that AT1-AAs level was positively correlated with PAD. To reveal the causal relationship between AT1-AAs and vascular aging, an AT1-AAs-positive rat model was established by active immunization. ConclusionsThese results demonstrate the practical utility of HSI for the real-time detection of cerebral ischemia in rats. By providing rapid assessment of brain tissue perfusion, HSI may help doctors recognize ischemic regions quickly and precisely during surgery as well as have great utility in the experimental process.

Ostial vertebral artery stenosis (OVAS) is a relevant cause of acute ischemic posterior circulation stroke. Percutaneous trans-luminal angioplasty (PTA) might offer a promising treatment modality, but re-stenosis rate is high. So far, little is known about recanalization using drug-coated balloons (DCB) in OVAS. We aimed to show feasibility and safety of DCB-PTA in OVAS.

In this study, we synthesized a membrane-permeable peptide (Tat-CDK5-CTM) that specifically disrupts the binding of CDK5 and NR2B and then leads to the degradation of CDK5 by a lysosome-mediated pathway. We found that the administration of Tat-CDK5-CTM not only retards calcium overload and neuronal death in oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD)-treated neurons but also reduced the infarction area and neuronal loss and improved the neurological functions in MCAO (middle cerebral artery occlusion) mice.
