Nephrolithiasis predicts ischemic stroke: A longitudinal follow-up study using a national sample cohort.

This study sought to evaluate associations between nephrolithiasis and hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke using a national sample cohort from Korea. Data from 2002 to 2013 were collected for individuals ≥ 20 years of age in the Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS)-National Sample Cohort. We extracted nephrolithiasis patients (n = 22,636) and 1:4 matched controls (n = 90,544) and analyzed the occurrence of stroke. Matching was performed based on age, sex, income, region of residence, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia history. Crude and adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) were calculated using Cox proportional hazard models, and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were determined. We performed subgroup analyses according to age, sex, and follow-up period. The adjusted HR of ischemic stroke was 1.13 (95% CI = 1.06-1.21) in the nephrolithiasis group (P

The fabrication method involves controlling the residual stresses in the structure to predefine the initial deflection of the actuator, resulting in a larger actuation stroke. The residual stress control exploits the unique properties of ultra-high vacuum e-beam evaporated film to form thick tensile polysilicon as the actuator structural layer. This is...

In this study, we aimed to explore the efficacy and safety profile of apatinib monotherapy, or combined with chemotherapy or endothelial growth factor receptor (EGFR)-TKI in heavily pretreated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with brain metastases. We performed a retrospective analysis for relapsed NSCLC patients with brain metastases from our institute, whom received apatinib (250mg or 500mg p.o. qd) monotherapy, or combination with EGFR-TKI or chemotherapy as second- or more line systemic therapy until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurred. The objective response rate (ORR), disease control rat...

Conclusion The ACC and the IG accelerometer metrics facilitate the investigation of whether volume and intensity of physical activity have independent, additive, or interactive effects on health markers. In future studies, the adoption of data-driven metrics would facilitate the generation of age- and sex-specific norms that would be beneficial to researchers.
