Long-Term (10-Year) Outcomes of Stenting or Bypass Surgery for Acute Coronary Syndromes and Stable Ischemic Heart Disease With Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Disease

ConclusionsIn patients with LMCA disease, we have identified no significant interaction between the acuity of clinical indication and the relative treatment effect of PCI versus CABG on 10-year clinical outcomes.

In this study, researchers studied 438,952 participants in the UK Biobank, who had a total of 24,980 major coronary events - defined as the first occurrence of non-fatal heart attack, ischaemic stroke, or death due to coronary heart disease. They used an approach called Mendelian randomisation, which uses naturally occurring genetic differences to randomly divide the participants into groups, mimicking the effects of running a clinical trial. People with genes associated with lower blood pressure, lower LDL cholesterol, and a combination of both were put into different groups, and compared against those without thes...

In conclusion, among these 3 kinds of ILABs, including LAMAs, LABAs, and LABAs/LAMAs, for stable COPD patients, LAMAs and LABAs are associated with the least possibility to induce myocardial infarction and stroke, respectively. However, the application of LABAs will probably increase the risk of CF; they should be used with caution for stable COPD patients with CF. In addition, in specific-drug analysis, the use of formoterol can reduce the risk of treatment-related IHD. Nevertheless, more studies on different drug doses are needed in the future to further validate this conclusion.

We examined 9293 individuals from the Copenhagen General Population Study using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy measurements of total cholesterol, free- and esterified cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids, and particle concentration. Fourteen subclasses of decreasing size and their lipid constituents were analysed: six subclasses were very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), one intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL), three low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and four subclasses were high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Remnant lipoproteins were VLDL and IDL combined. Mean nonfasting cholesterol concentration was 72‚...

Authors: Chen H, Chen C, Fang J, Wang R, Nie W, Yuan Q Abstract BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the effect of oral Xa inhibitors plus antiplatelet therapy in the treatment of coronary artery disease. MATERIAL AND METHODS All randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about antiplatelet therapy plus Xa factor inhibitors for coronary artery disease from database inception to January 2019 were searched for and collected from PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library. Two reviewers extracted and analyzed the data independently. Additionally, RevMan 5.0 software was applied for meta-analysis. RES...

Malondialdehyde (MDA) is by-product of lipid peroxidation as in oxidized low-density lipoprotein. We here studied the association between IgG antibodies against Malondialdehyde (anti-MDA) and risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, angina and myocardial infraction in this cohort. Low levels of IgG anti-MDA conjugated with human serum albumin concentrations were measured by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The association between IgG anti-MDA. 84 month's follow-ups were conducted in Stockholm County for 60-year-old men and women in which the risk factors associated in the screening of cardiovascular events f...

Conclusions: The direct analyses of emissions reductions estimate substantial health benefits via coal power plant emission and PM2.5 concentration reductions. Differing responses associated with changes in the two exposure metrics underscore the importance of isolating source-specific impacts from those due to total PM2.5 exposure.
