Canonical Wnt Signaling Promotes Neovascularization through Determination of Endothelial Progenitor Cell Fate via Metabolic Profile Regulation
This study found that EPC metabolic profile is a direct determinant of EPC fate. The Wnt signaling pathway regulates EPC metabolism, EPC fate and subsequently, new vessel formation. These findings reveal a new function of Wnt signaling in regulating mitochondrial function in EPC. This study also suggests a potential significance of EPC metabolic profile as a diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for diseases caused by abnormal blood vessel formation.© AlphaMed Press 2019
