CONCLUSIONS: PRO associations identified activity, lifestyle and fatigue as items for strong consideration for inclusion in questionnaires in the clinic, and suggest that outcome information can be captured in fewer items than the 27 in this study. The ability of clinicians to assess patient toxicities is highest with more severe toxicities, underscoring the need for PRO collection in patient visits to understand and address patient symptoms. We present our results in patients with recurrent head and neck cancers treated with HDR interstitial brachytherapy. Material and methods: Twenty-five patients with recurrent head and neck cancers were treated with HDR interstitial brachytherapy using Iridium 192 between 2009 and 2016. Conclusion: Postoperative IMRT of carcinoma buccal mucosa and alveolus resulted in the highest LC rate of all the treatment subgroups assessed hence should be generously recommended in such cases especially ones with unfavorable features such as close resection margin, nodal involvement, locally advanced tumor (>T1N0), or recurrent disease, respectively. Despite definitive IMRT, locoregional control in carcinoma buccal mucosa and alveolus remain unsatisfactory, comparable to that following definitive 3D-CRT.
