Some hematological and biochemical reference values of the thoroughbred Appaloosa horse breeds reared in Kyrgyzstan

AbstractThe aim of this study was to determine the normal hematological and biochemical parameters of the Thoroughbred Appaloosa horse breeds which reared in Tong and Iss ık-Kul regions of Kyrgyzstan. Fifty-six (n = 56) healthy horse breeds in different ages (0–12 months and 1–5 years) and gender (n = 29 male andn = 27 female) were clinically examined and blood samples were taken. Red blood cell (RBC) count, white blood cell (WBC) count, the count (#); the percentage (%) of the lymphocytes (lymph), monocytes (mid), granulocytes (gran); and the values of hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), blood clot cell count (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), procalcitonin (PCT), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), red cell distribution width (RDW-CV), and red cell distribution standard deviation (RD W-SD) were measured in the blood plasma samples. In addition, creatine phosphokinase (CPK), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total bilirubin (TBil), direct bilirubin (DBil), triglycerides (TG), total serum protein (TP), albumin (Alb), creatinine (Creat), urea (Urea), amylase (Amy), lipase (Lip), cholesterol (Chol), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), glucose (GLU), very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL),...

Fibroblasts from patients with Tangier disease carrying ATP-binding cassette A1 (ABCA1) loss-of-function mutations are characterized by cardiolipin accumulation, a mitochondrial-specific phospholipid. Suppression of ABCA1 expression occurs in glomeruli from patients with diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and in human podocytes exposed to DKD sera collected prior to the development of DKD. We demonstrated that siRNA ABCA1 knockdown in podocytes led to reduced oxygen consumption capabilities associated with alterations in the oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) complexes and with cardiolipin accumulation. Podocyte-specific deleti...

Conclusions: The prevalence of active commuting in the sample studied is low and it was shown to have a crude association with glucose and LDL cholesterol levels in students.

Based on their common etiology and molecular background, the hypothesis on the potential anti-cancer activity of cardiological drugs appeared, mainly in response to the necessity of increasing the efficacy of existing oncological treatment schemes. In fact, cancer is known to induce the profound malfunction of typic...

Abstract It was assessed the intake and prevalence of inadequate nutrient intake according to weight status among Brazilian adults from urban areas (n=16,198) evaluated in the Brazilian National Dietary Survey (NDS – 2008-2009), that obtained food records from two non-consecutive days. The prevalence of inadequate nutrient intake according to weight status was estimated based on Brazilian and international recommendations, in which usual intake was estimated applying the National Cancer Institute method. From 14 nutrients evaluated, six differed according to weight status in men, and only two among women. For men, th...

KorkhovAbstractThe translocator protein TSPO is in an important diagnostic and therapeutic target in a range of pathologies, including neuroinflammation and cancer. Despite the availability of several structures of TSPO homologues, our understanding of the molecular determinants that govern high-affinity interactions of TSPO with its ligands is incomplete. Here, in order to decipher the key structural elements of TSPO responsible for interactions with its ligands, we designed a panel of chimeric ...

(Natural News) Fatty, processed foods that are high in low density lipoproteins (LDL cholesterol) are known for causing arterial plaques and the onset of atherosclerosis. New research from the University of Illinois shows that the damage to arteries is almost instant at the cellular level. Upon consumption, processed junk foods such as cheeseburgers, fries, cakes,...
