Metabolic status and ultrasound traits of reproductive tract of estrus dairy cows in early postpartum period

This study indicated that the correlation between ultrasound traits of uterus and metabolite hormones was not significant at the clean test in estrus dairy cows. Moreover, there was no relationship between serum leve l of IGF-1, NEFA, and BHBA with either dominant follicle diameter or existence of corpus luteum (CL). Significant association between ultrasound properties of the uterus and ovaries and metabolic hormone (IGF-1, NEFA, and BHBA) concentrations did not reveal in estrus dairy cows at day 28 ± 3 po stpartum.

ConclusionsAn inexpensive reusable non-commercial LP simulator can be an effective method for teaching invasive procedures like LPs, especially if it can be used both for palpation and US-guided procedures. The method outlined here can be easily reproduced in a relatively short amount of time. We recognize one limitation in the widespread dissemination of this technique being access to a 3D printer and digital designs for printing. Future studies will be necessary to determine the efficacy of the homemade LP simulator in teaching neurointensivist in training.

Authors: Sari A, Eroglu A Abstract BACKGROUND: Injections is a good alternative to conventional treatment-resistant cases with rotator cuff (RC) lesions before operation. Currently, different injection methods are used in RC lesions. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of different injection methods (platelet-rich plasma [PRP], corticosteroid [COR] and prolotherapy [PRO]) in RC tendon lesions. METHODS: One hundred and twenty-nine patients were divided into 4 groups as PRP, COR, PRO and the lidocaine group. Subacromial injection was applied to all groups. They were evaluated using the Visual Analogue Scale (...

CONCLUSIONS: Current ultrasound fetal anthropometry is not strongly helpful, but the values of anthropometric formulas provided by future ultrasound are expected especially as the primary screening of LGA. PMID: 31741367 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Plečko M, Bohaček I, Tripković B, Čimić M, Jelić M, Delimar D Abstract Anterior section of the hip joint capsule is innervated by femoral nerve and obturator nerve, and posterior section is innervated by the nerve to quadratus femoris muscle and occasionally by the superior gluteal (posterolateral region) and sciatic nerve (posterosuperior region). One of the regional anesthesia options for hip surgery is the fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) that affects nerves important for hip innervation and sensory innervation of the thigh - femoral, obturator and lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. FICB can b...

ULTRASOUND SKILLS IN LOWER EXTREMITY TRAUMATOLOGY AND ORTHOPEDICS - REGIONAL ANESTHESIA AND BEYOND. Acta Clin Croat. 2019 Jun;58(Suppl 1):74-81 Authors: Oremuš K Abstract During the last two decades ultrasound guidance has been established as an invaluable tool for performing peripheral nerve blocks. Ultrasound guidance reduces block performance time, volume of local anesthetic, risk of intravascular injection and need for opioid rescue analgesia compared to landmark based and neurostimulator guided techniques. The use of ultrasound guidance must not be understood as a surrogate to, but should c...

Conclusion: Regarding clinical efficacy, both brachial plexus blocking approaches provided a good motor block, anesthesia and analgesia for the forearm or hand surgery. Supraclavicular approach proved to be more favorable. PMID: 31741554 [PubMed - in process]

Authors: Zhang Q, Xiong J, Cai Y, Shi J, Xu S, Zhang B Abstract B-mode ultrasonography and sonoelastography are used in the clinical diagnosis of prostate cancer (PCa). A combination of the two ultrasound (US) modalities using computer aid may be helpful for improving the diagnostic performance. A technique for computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) of PCa is presented based on multimodal US. Firstly, quantitative features are extracted from both B-mode US images and sonoelastograms, including intensity statistics, regional percentile features, gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) texture features and binary texture feat...
