Peripheral blood test provides a practical method for glioma evaluation and prognosis prediction.

Peripheral blood test provides a practical method for glioma evaluation and prognosis prediction. CNS Neurosci Ther. 2019 Mar 26;: Authors: Wang ZL, Zhang CB, Liu YQ, Wang Z, Jiang T Abstract OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between tumor characteristics and the preoperative counts of immune cells in peripheral blood test in glioma patients. METHODS: We included 260 WHO grades II-IV patients who had preoperative peripheral blood test result from Sanbo hospital as training set. The 66 patients from Tiantan hospital was obtained for validation. RNA sequencing data from CGGA and TCGA datasets were used to evaluate the features of neutrophil subtype and lymphocyte subtype in glioma. RESULTS: We revealed that the count of preoperative lymphocytes, eosinophils and neutrophils were associated with glioma grades. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR)

In conclusion, GABRD expression might serve as a potential independent prognostic marker in patients with IDH WT LGG. Meanwhile, its expression was negatively correlated with the extent of TIM, which might help to explain the favorable survival outcome. Cg13916816 might be a critical CpG site influencing GABRD expression in IDH WT LGG.

We present a method that builds on previous work to address the need for accuracy and generality of MR-iUS registration algorithms in multi-site clinical data. To improve accuracy of registration, we use high-dimensional texture attributes instead of image intensities and propose to replace the standard difference-based attribute matching with correlation-based attribute matching. We also present a strategy that deals explicitly with the large field-of-view mismatch between MR and iUS images. We optimize key parameters across independent MR-iUS brain tumor datasets acquired at three different institutions, with a total of ...

miR‑378a‑3p inhibits cellular proliferation and migration in glioblastoma multiforme by targeting tetraspanin 17. Oncol Rep. 2019 Aug 20;: Authors: Guo XB, Zhang XC, Chen P, Ma LM, Shen ZQ Abstract Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive brain tumor and patients with this disease tend to have poor clinical outcome. MicroRNAs (miRs) are important regulators of a number of key pathways implicated in tumor pathogenesis. Recently, the expression of miR‑378 was shown to be dysregulated in several different types of cancer, including gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and oral ca...

In this study, we data-mined in silico databases to evaluate aldolase family members’ mRNA expression in glioblastoma patient cohorts for determining its prognostic values. After that, we also performed immunohistochemical stain (IHC) analysis to evaluate protein expression levels of ALDOC in glioblastoma tissues. From The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database analyses, higher mRNA expression levels in normal brain tissue compared to glioblastoma was observed. In addition, compared to low-grade glioma, ALDOC expression was significantly downregulated in high-grade glioblastoma. Besides, the expression level of ALDO...

Mutant IDH1 causes the production and accumulation of the metabolite 2 hydroxyglutarate, which induces genome-wide hypermethylation, and is thought to be a driver mutation of these tumours. However, there are multiple contradictory effects of mutant IDH1 in cell lines and in vivo models, prompting us to study the effect of mutant...
