Researchers to study drivers of asthma in Puerto Rico

(National Jewish Health) Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, National Jewish Health and Centro de Neumolog í a Pedi á trica in Puerto Rico have been awarded nearly $10 million in a 5-year grant to understand the root causes of asthma in Puerto Rico, where asthma prevalence and deaths are among the highest in the world. The team will follow 4,000 children from birth through early childhood to study how genes and viral infections affect respiratory disease.
