Iron: an essential nutrient for Aspergillus fumigatus and a fulcrum for pathogenesis

We describe two recent in-vivo models that clearly demonstrate the importance of iron in A. fumigatus growth and invasion. Summary Based on these recent findings, therapy aimed at managing A. fumigatus iron homeostasis locally could make conditions more favorable to the host.
