Defining the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute ’ s (NHLBI) research priorities in the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of genomics (Day 2)

As genomic research and technological advances make genomic studies more affordable across larger samples of patients and participants, it is becoming increasingly urgent to address the ethical implications of these studies and consider how genomics is impacting society and clinical care. As such, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is holding a workshop on September 12-13, 2018 to help establish research priorities in the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of genomics research. This 1.5 day workshop will convene diverse, expert stakeholders with the goal of developing a list of recommended ELSI research priorities that are customized to the NHLBI ’ s portfolio of heart, lung, blood, and sleep genomics research. Viewers are invited participate in the discussion by emailing questions and comments to elsi@nhlbi.nih.gov; the NHLBI will attempt to incorporate this public input into workshop discussions as time permits.Air date: 9/13/2018 8:00:00 AM
