As part of the Norwegian government’s budget for 2018, the Parliament (“Storting”) introduced a new program called Medicine Start that aims to ensure the safe use of drugs for patients with chronic diseases. The program started in 2018, offering patients with cardiovascular diseases consultations with local pharmacists regarding their treatment with antihypertensive, cholesterol-lowering, or blood-thinning medications.
