Response by Netuka et al. regarding the article “Evaluation of low-intensity anti-coagulation with a fully magnetically levitated centrifugal-flow circulatory pump – the MAGENTUM 1 study”

Cosgrove and Khalpey provide an insightful review regarding several key aspects of the Magentum-1 Study.1 They suggest that a “one size fits all” strategy for anticoagulation in mechanical circulatory support devices is unwise and that larger patient cohorts need examination to establish such targets. We agree with the authors; however, we believe that our investigation seeks to move the field forward towards the argum ent that when technology advances result in a reduction of thrombotic complications, it makes intuitive sense to begin to decrease the hazards that emanate from excessive anticoagulation.
