Twenty-four month follow-up of tocilizumab therapy for refractory uveitis-related macular edema
Conclusion: In this long-term study, TCZ was effective and had a comparable safety profile to published data for TCZ use in other indications, when used for the treatment of refractory uveitis-related ME.

Authors: Román GC, Jackson RE, Reis J, Román AN, Toledo JB, Toledo E Abstract Observational epidemiological studies provide valuable information regarding naturally occurring protective factors observed in populations with very low prevalences of vascular disease. Between 1935 and 1965, the Italian-American inhabitants of Roseto (Pennsylvania, USA) observed a traditional Italian diet and maintained half the mortality rates from myocardial infarction compared with neighboring cities. In the Seven Countries Study, during 40years (1960-2000) Crete maintained the lowest overall mortality rates and coronar...
CONCLUSIONS: Hypocaloric, plant-based short-term dietary oatmeal interventions significantly reduced mean blood glucose levels and mean required daily insulin doses in a critically ill and septic patient on the intensive care unit. PMID: 31519290 [PubMed - in process]
CONCLUSIONS: While both sound types had a positive impact on many dimensions of tinnitus, only the broadband noise was associated with a reduction in blood pressure. These results are consistent with a complex interaction between sound and tinnitus and suggest a multifactorial basis to sound therapy that includes a reduction in arousal. This study investigated changes in sleep architecture during ASV treatment in HFrEF patients.MethodsA retrospective analysis of polysomnographic datasets for 30 ASV-treated patients with stable HFrEF and moderate-to-severe CSA was performed, including blinded analyses of total sleep time (TST), and percentage of REM and non-REM sleep (stages N1-N3).ResultsFollow-up was 109 ± 32 days; mean device usage was 6.0 ± 1.1 h/day. During ASV there was reduction of N1 (34 ± 20%/TST to 13 ± 5%/TST, p

AbstractObjectivesCXC ligand 13 (CXCL13) is known as B cell chemotactic factor (BLC), promoting the migration of B lymphocytes by communicating with its receptor CXCR5, which can be regarded as part of pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This meta-analysis was to evaluate the circulating CXCL13 levels in SLE and RA.MethodsAll articles were respectively gathered from PubMed, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) (by the end of 10 April 2019). According to random effects model, standardized mean difference (SMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of CXC...
ConclusionsOur results revealed that the EAT-10 was independently associated with the 100-mL WST and respiratory disease. We propose that swallowing rehabilitation incorporating respiratory training could be effective for older people screened using the EAT-10.
Authors: Rodriguez AE, Restrepo MI Abstract INTRODUCTION: Aspiration pneumonia is a subclass of community-acquired pneumonia that is expected to have an increasing contribution in mortality and morbidity, particularly in the elderly population over the next coming decades. While studies have revealed significant progress in identifying risk factors for aspiration pneumonia, the clinical presentation and diagnosis remains challenging to healthcare providers. Areas Covered: We conducted a broad literature review using the MeSH heading in PubMed/MEDLINE of "aspiration pneumonia" from January 1970 to July 201...
