81. The florence spinal unit experience in the treatment of chronic pelvic pain with Botulinum toxin

Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a common disorder, more frequent in women, causing significant morbidity. CPP is difficult to diagnose and resist traditional treatment modalities. In the last years, it has been showed botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) is effective in treating pain, above all if it is associated to muscular spasm. Some studies suggest that BTX-A blocks peripheral sensitization and, indirectly, reduces central sensitization. We studied 28 patients, aged 32 –87years, who had more than 2years of CPP, mono/bilateral, who differed from one another in pain area/intensity.
