Community Health Maps: Using Mapping Tools During Disasters

National Library of Medicine [National Institutes of Health]. 10/12/2017 These presentation slides are from a Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC) webinar that provided an overview of the tools created by the Center for Public Service Communications, with the National Library of Medicine (NLM), by its Community Health Maps (CHM) initiative, and how to use these tools during disaster response. CHM ' s premise is that community-based organizations, environmental health groups, public health agencies, and emergency management departments are in a better position to serve their populations when they are able to collect and maintain their own data. Speakers discussed relevance of the maps to the NLM mission, and case studies in several cities. (Presentation Slides)
