Cytotoxic effects of Euterpe oleracea Mart. in malignant cell lines
Conclusions:
The present study demonstrated that acai possesses antitumorigenic potential in the MCF-7 cell line. Further studies are needed to identify the compound (s) responsible for this cytotoxic activity and the molecular target in the cell. This discovery of the anticancer potential of acai may help in the development of chemopreventive drugs and may have therapeutic effects in the treatment of breast cancer.
