Use of Wilms Tumor 1 Gene Expression as a Reliable Marker for Prognosis and Minimal Residual Disease Monitoring in Acute Myeloid Leukemia With Normal Karyotype Patients

The aim of the present study was to test the possibility for the usage of the WT1 (Wilms tumor 1) expression level as an additional biomarker for prognosis and minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring in patients with acute myeloid leukemia with normal karyotype (AML-NK). We found that overexpression of WT1 had a negative effect on treatment outcome. It was a suitable marker for MRD monitoring and a marker for refined risk stratification of AML-NK patients.
