Benefits of Cervical Cancer Screening by Liquid-Based Cytology as Part of Routine Antenatal Assessment.

CONCLUSIONS: Prevalence of abnormal cervical cytology in pregnant women attending the ANC clinic at Siriraj Hospital was 3.4%. Inclusion of cervical cancer screening as part of antenatal assessment can help to identify precancerous lesions or cervical cancers in patients who might otherwise not be screened, thereby facilitating early treatment and improved patient outcomes. Pioneering psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who specialised in studying the effects of stillbirth on women ’s mental healthThe psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Stanford Bourne, who has died aged 92 of congestive cardiac failure, broke the silence in the 1960s surrounding the anguish of stillbirth. His work opened up discussion, addressed medical bias, and guided doctors and midwives towards a more compassionate approach. In the 60s, 18,000 women a year had a stillborn baby, but it was cloaked in secrecy. Well-meaning staff quickly removed babies before parents could see, name or hold them, and they were “disposed of...

AbstractSeries of grafting functionalization on silica microspheres were achieved to mono and bi-functionalized polymers for uranium recovery. Bi-functionalization sorbent is the most effective through improving the sorption capacity and other physico-chemical properties. Completed sorption time reached within 25  min for PAO-MAc/SiO2 at pH 4 with loading capacity 0.98  mmol U g−1, while the PFORE and Langmuir fitting the kinetics and isotherm plateaus respectively with completely desorption through 15  min using 0.5 M HCl. The sorbent shows high stability in sorption and desorption through minimu...

AbstractThe development of molecular imaging agents used for imaging of cancer tissue is of great importance for the early detection of cancer. Positron emission tomography (PET) radiopharmaceuticals consists of a positron-emitting radionuclide and a molecularstructure.89Zr-labeled monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), peptides, nanoparticles, proteins, and other compounds are called89Zr-Immuno-PET and are used in cancer tissue imaging. This review provides a general overview of the potential of molecules labeled with89Zr radionuclide, which is chosen due to its long half-life, in preclinical and clinical studies. In light of thes...

Conclusion: This article outlines the evaluation of a new program demonstrating that medical oncology practices can make improvements in the care of their underserved populations if provided with the proper tools, methods, and coaching. The use of formative evaluation methodology also identified opportunities for improvement and ultimately resulted in additional funding for more practices to participate in the program.

Beate Ritz Acetaminophen is the most common over-the-counter pain and fever medication used by pregnant women. While European studies suggest acetaminophen exposure in pregnancy could affect childhood asthma development, findings are less consistent in other populations. We evaluated whether maternal prenatal acetaminophen use is associated with childhood asthmatic symptoms (asthma diagnosis, wheeze, dry cough) in a Los Angeles cohort of 1201 singleton births. We estimated risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for childhood asthmatic outcomes according to prenatal acetaminophen exposure. Effect modificati...
