Randomized Trial of Hepatic Artery Embolization for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Using Doxorubicin-Eluting Microspheres Compared With Embolization With Microspheres Alone Gastrointestinal Cancer

Conclusion There was no apparent difference between the treatment arms. These results challenge the use of doxorubicin-eluting beads for chemoembolization of HCC.

We present the case of a 63-year-old patient that was diagnosed in another Clinic with squamous skin carcinoma, but, after complete resection in our Hospital, it was proven to be breast cancer. At diagnosis, computed tomography (CT) scan showed local disease. Adjuvant treatment, consisting in chemotherapy and radiotherapy, was administered. At the beginning of hormonal therapy, the patient had a new CT scan that showed liver and bone metastases. The patient started palliative hormonal treatment with bisphosphonates. The aim of the study was to highlight both the importance of early diagnosis and treatment and the aggressiv...

Conclusion: Some cases of ICC may be responsive to the antiangiogenic drug, anlotinib, when combined with microwave ablation. Randomized clinical studies are required to further confirm the efficacy and safety of anlotinib in the clinical treatment of ICC.

CONCLUSIONWe report a case of laparoscopic hepatectomy for liver metastasis of lung LCNEC. It is suggested that surgical resection for solitary distant metastasis of LCNEC may improve prognosis.

We reported a case of a 66-year-old man after surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy for colon cancer. Two months after these therapies, the patient complained of nonproductive cough for 1 week. Diagnoses: 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) scanning revealed increased FDG uptake along the thickened bronchovascular bundles, in bilaterally scattered ground-glass opacities and in mediastinal lymphadenopathy. The transbronchial biopsy and pathological study confirmed the diagnosis of PLC. Interventions: Antineoplastic treatment (cetuximab) were administered afte...

Conclusions: RFA with heat target delivery chemotherapy facilitated better tumor coagulation necrosis without additional toxicity. This combined treatment may improve the clinical efficacy of RFA or free doxorubicin and prolong survival in patients with medium to large HCC.

We present a patient who received nivolumab for heterogeneity of right-sided metastatic colon carcinoma. Intervention: The patient was treated with nivolumab combined with chemotherapy. Outcome: The computed tomography showed mass lesion in the left lobe of liver remained stable while metastasis tumors under envelop of liver were exacerbated after 6 cycles of nivolumab combined with chemotherapy, and later regressed. Lessons: The status of mismatch repair in primary tumor and metastatic liver carcinoma is contradictory but using nivolumab demonstrated encouraging efficacy. This is the first case of pseudo progress...

Conclusions: The proposed nomogram is a reliable and robust tool for accurate prognostic prediction in patients with extremity soft tissue LMS. Introduction Soft tissue leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is an aggressive sarcoma, which originates from smooth muscle cells (1). Soft tissue LMS accounts for about 5–10% of all soft tissue sarcomas (2). It occurs in different sites, including the retroperitoneum, intraabdominal sites, and extremities (3). Extremity LMS comprised about 10–15% of extremity sarcomas, with a preference for the lower limb (4–6). Extremity LMS tends to have a better prognosis than uterine...

Conclusions The recent, first randomized clinical trial demonstrated overall and progression free survival benefits after SBRT to oligometastatic disease which supports prior retrospective case series (6). The spine is a common site of metastatic bone disease, and as high quality data continue to mature, along with completion of additional randomized clinical trials, it is expected that utility of SBRT to the spine will increase in the future. Spine SBRT is unique due to the requirement of sharp dose falloff to prevent serious neurologic morbidity. With recent advances in radiotherapy planning, robotic patient positionin...
