Cytopathological features of pilomyxoid astrocytoma: a case report

This is a case report concerning a Pilomyxoid Astrocytoma (PMA) occuring in a 4 month‐old child in the right temporal/suprasellar region of the brain. It was resected twice, the first time when the tumor was discovered and the second time four years later after recurrence as pilocytic astrocytoma (PA). Cytological features of PMA have been only rarely reported. Furthermore the authors have tried to discuss the evolution of a PMA to a PA illustrating the rare circumstances in which a tumor with a bad prognosis may evolve in a tumor with a better one.
