The open access study noted here is one of many to show that greater levels of physical activity correlate well with a reduced risk of age-related disease. It isn't possibly to reliably live to extreme old age on the back of a good exercise program, but that physical activity does reliably improve the odds of experiencing better rather than worse health in later life. In a case of ironic coincidence recently, the Tandon School of Engineering at New York University and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission issued statements days apart about revolutionary technologies and those who develop them. In the case of the SEC, it announced it was charging Theranos executives Elizabeth Holmes and Ramesh Balwani with "an elaborate, years-long fraud in which they exaggerated or made false statements about the company’s technology, business, and financial performance.” The NYU release, however, announced an early-stage advancement in fundamental physics that served as an emphat...

Conclusion Fimbrial cytobrushing using the transvaginal approach is an easy and minimally invasive procedure. The easy accessibility of the fimbrial end and the distal ampullary part at TVL allows an accurate collection of tubal epithelial cells. In view of the recent data reporting the Fallopian tube and more specifically the fimbrial end as a possible origin of ovarian carcinoma, further research is neede to evaluate the potential of this technique as a possible screening method for patients at risk for ovarian cancer.

For SELF, by Zahra Barnes. A scary new report adds one more item to the “why women shouldn’t douche” list. Gynecologists have been telling their patients not to clean their vaginas with douches for years—and now they have yet another strong point against it: The practice is associated with nearly a doubled risk of getting ovarian cancer, according to a large study from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. “Douching is just wrong,” Sherry Ross, M.D., an ob/gyn and women’s health expert at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa M...
