Me Versus Not Me: Assimilating to a Left Ventricular Assist Device Implant

Durable left ventricular assist device (dLVAD) is life-saving strategy for several patients with end-stage heart failure, offering them an opportunity for increased longevity as well as improved quality of life. The effectiveness of this life saving treatment is well documented throughout the literature.1 Research exploring the patient ’s subjective experience on dLVAD, including health related quality of life (hrQOL) and overlapping concepts of patients’ physical and social adaptations, and psychological symptoms remain insufficient.
