Optimizing Hearts for Transplantation Using Small Interfering RNA-Based Therapies During Ex Vivo Machine Perfusion

Purpose: Ex vivo heart perfusion (EVHP) is a promising platform for delivery of candidate therapeutics designed to improve the quality of hearts used for transplantation. We have previously reported that, after systemic administration, docosanoic acid (DCA) conjugates yield superior delivery to the heart relative to other molecules.
