HeartMate 3 LVAD Outflow Graft Velocity Profile as Simplified Marker for Left Ventricular Unloading in Echocardiographic Speed Ramp Tests

Purpose: Pump speed optimization in left ventricular assist device (LVAD) recipients is essential to reach optimal hemodynamic support and left ventricular (LV) unloading, while avoiding overpumping. The primary objective of this study was to assess the potential of LVAD outflow graft (OG) velocity profiles as marker for LV unloading, aiming to establish a simplified echocardiographic speed ramp test protocol. The secondary objective was to correlate OG velocities with real-time HeartMate 3 (HM3) Snoopy pump data, serving as non-invasive diagnostic tool.
