Paraesophageal Hernia Repair in a Lung Transplant Recipient: Is It Safe?
Introduction: It is well described that lung transplant (LTx) recipients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) have a higher risk of both acute and chronic rejection. However, there is limited data on the outcomes of antireflux operations within this cohort. Less is known about patients requiring complex postoperative foregut surgery after LTx. Here we present a case of a LTx recipient with a large paraesophageal hernia (PEH) who had a successful repair due to deliberate management during the immediate postoperative course.
