Using Octogenarian Donors for Lung Transplantation Results in Good Short and Long-Term Outcome: A Single-Center Experience

Purpose: The shortage of lung donors prompts research into expanding the donor criteria for lung transplantation (LTx). One of these criteria is donor age. Recent data showed that LTx from well selected donors ≥70 years results in equal outcome as with younger donors. The aim of this study was to describe our experience with LTx from octogenarian donors aged ≥80 years.
